If your thinking about a new RV, read this article first. A new RV with a warranty might sound like a good idea but you have to remember that that brand new shiny camper will lose a ton of value as soon as you cross the boundary line of the dealership. In addition, almost all new campers have issues even when they are new. They are often put together so fast that quality control misses a lot of defects. You probably will not notice them until your next camping trip. Sometimes these defects can be major. The problem arises when they tell you have to return to the dealer to have it fixed. Chances are, that dealer is many miles away from where you are camping.
If you buy a used camper or RV, most of the original bugs that were present when it was new will be ironed out. In addition, all the money you saved buying a pre-owned camper, you can use some of that cash to customize a used one to look better than one off the showroom floor. Just look at the video and see what we did to customize ours. Even after customizing and fixing it the way that you like, you will still have money left so you can actually enjoy some camping without breaking the bank.
So really think twice before you are tempted to get that top of line RV from the showroom floor. These new rigs are often made cheaper than most of the older rigs that you might decide to look at. Do your homework and look at the many used RV’s that are out there before resorting to brand new!
