Sometimes some of the greatest life hacks are the simplest but it involves things that we simply just might not think of. This video shows you some very simple and easy hacks for keeping your RV clean and spotless.
The first thing we look at are the screens. Believe it or not, these screens can attract and hold a ton of dirt. wiping them off while they are in place will not get them 100% clean. Simply remove the screen and use either a sink or a hose to force the dirt off with the power of water. You can even spray a bit of Simple Green on them for a non-toxic way to remove any excess dirt. simply do this with both sides of the screen to get all the dirt. Then simply lay them out to dry before putting them back on the window. While you have the screen off, you can clean both sides of the RV window as well and let all the light shine in.
The next thing to look at are your air cleaner filters. They can be cleaned to an extent but after a few months, it is best to buy new ones and replace them. One great tip for a great smelling RV is to spray some air freshener or Fabreeze on the filter before installing it. That great scent will then filter through the entire RV. Speaking of filters, many RV refrigerators have one and it needs to be periodically cleaned or replaced. In addition, keep an open box of Baking Soda in the fridge to absorb odors and keep the fridge smelling great.
Clean, fresh water is one of the best things you can do for your body. As such, it is important not to overlook your RV’s freshwater tank. It is important to occasionally drain the tank and add fresh water from time to time. Drain and refill the tank several times to ensure any contaminants are completely removed. If you wish, you can add a teaspoon of plain bleach to the tank to help kill any bacteria that might form.
Humidity during the summer can be brutal in many parts of the country during the summer months. This increased humidity can cause all sorts of damage inside your RV. The best solution is to purchase a dehumidifier. These units can help alleviate the issues associated with moisture by removing the excess moisture from the air. They are inexpensive to operate and easy to maintain. Simply empty the water tray periodically so it does not overflow. Some units have an auto-shutoff when the tray gets too full in order to prevent water damage from an overflowing water tray.
You can help keep that nice RV shine by using a very cheap and simple solution of vinegar and water. Vinegar will help clean and remove mold from almost any hard surface. It shines windows, mirrors and even the entire outside of your RV. Just spray on the outside of the RV and wipe. If you have access to a hose, you can clean the outer shell of the RV with the vinegar solution and hose it down.
This is just the tip of the iceberg on little things you can do to keep your RV clean and shiny. WE hope you enjoy using some or all of these easy cleaning hacks!
